Liverpool lost a game in the Premier League. It’s been a while since anyone’s been able to say that – 422 days to be exact. Watford handed the Reds a stunning 3-0 loss this past weekend, and fans who had been fed up with Liverpool’s 44 game unbeaten run in the Premier League were elated. That said, Liverpool had been generous enough to give those fans an appetizer of what was to come when they ended up on the losing side of a 1-0 bout against Atletico Madrid eleven days before the Watford contest. And because it was so well received, the Reds even provided an encore to their performance by allowing Chelsea to blank them 2-0 in the FA Cup. What a gesture – you can’t say Jürgen Klopp’s side don’t give the fans what they want.
If Liverpool keeps up this pace of losing games, it’ll be right up there with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors for the “From title favorites to totally irrelevant in the shortest amount of time” award. That said, Liverpool has been so dominant that we’re not even sure this whole slate of losses isn’t part of Klopp’s master plan. We’ll have to wait and see how the rest of the season plays out, but we’ll tell you one thing – we wouldn’t want to be Bournemouth this week, walking into Anfield to play a Liverpool team looking to show the Premier League’s and the world’s top teams that the past two weeks’ results were a fluke.
